Teresa was born on the island of São Miguel, but since childhood she has spent her holidays on the island of Graciosa, where her mother was born. This explains her love for the island and, perhaps because of this, she insisted that her daughters, Maria and Catarina, enjoy the Azores from an early age, spending a large part of their summer holidays in Graciosa. The building where the Boa Nova Hostel is situated belonged to several generations of her family, since her great-grandfather. Nowadays, the same building also houses the house that is Teresa's favourite place to rest during holidays.

António comes from Trás-os-Montes, a long way from the beauty of the Azores. However, the peace and tranquillity of Graciosa made him fall in love with this island in the Azores. Reading is one of his hobbies, which he enjoys practicing by the sea, enjoying the wonderful view of the Calheta quay, and with the Atlantic as a backdrop. In the evening, he often meets in the central square of Santa Cruz, where he socialises with friends or watches the singing of those who join in the singing. He was responsible for the restoration of several elements of the Boa Nova Hostel, being also possible to observe pieces of his authorship, in black basalt stone.
